I was thinking about the fact that I repair guitars.
People told me I shouldn’t, well what they meant was couldn't, do this.
I would just smile politely.
While on the inside, I reminded myself that we, humans, are here to learn.
And, I can learn anything I want to.
So, I found an old guitar and I started tinkering.
I figured out the basics of how the instrument was put together.
That was a far as I could do on my own.
Then, I drew on some inspiration.
My grandmother, who never ever looked at me or let me look at myself as less because I couldn’t hear.
She told me something that made sense.
Others want to help you learn, not everyone, but you will find someone for anything you want to learn.
That began the journey to the luthiers.
A luthier is someone who makes and repairs guitars.
The first couple of luthiers I talked to said they didn’t think they could teach me.
I understood, they didn’t think I could learn the trade.
Just like my grandmother told me, I met a luthier who thought me learning the trade was a beautiful thing.
I began an apprenticeship.
Now, I run my own shop.
We are limitlessness, us humans.
Because we are here to learn.
