I'm a 26-year-old who grew up in New York City. I graduated from NYU with a degree in liberal arts. After graduation, I landed a job as a junior development executive at a major Hollywood production company. I was very proud and happy about that job and my status as a young Hollywood up-and-coming executive. I was invited to special movie screenings, I worked on one of the famous Hollywood studio lots and I was invited to and went to many Hollywood parties. Pretty cool, I know. However, I quickly realized that my job wasn't real. That I was a gate keeper and an expense on a ledger of the movies the company made. The higher ups in the company did all the business and I was simply reading scripts and taking meetings as a way to show that the company was actively seeking material to buy. It was, basically, an illusion. Sure, I might find something that the company would consider acquiring, but then I would have to take it through the chain of command with the impossible odds of the top execs making a deal on the script. My dream of helping find and bring to the screen movies that mattered was shattered. So, I decided to become a Producer and, because I need to keep busy and earn a few bucks, I'm a barista at a movie industry frequented coffee house. I'm here to share my experience in Hollywood, to find like-minded individuals who are also looking for a better way to make movies and to see what this Flix Capacitor thing is all about. Let's connect over changing the dysfunctional Hollywood movie making machine and create movies free of the burdens of gates keepers.
